Commitment to Community Service

At Debark University, the College of Social Science is deeply committed to engaging with and serving local and global communities. Our faculty, staff, and students actively participate in initiatives that address social challenges and improve lives, working to create positive change and social equity.

Core Areas of Community Service

  • Educational Outreach: Offering workshops, seminars, and training to enhance education in local communities.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Providing psychological support, mental health awareness programs, and wellness initiatives for underserved populations.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Promoting sustainable practices and environmental conservation through community-driven projects.
  • Social Justice Advocacy: Championing human rights, gender equality, and social inclusion through advocacy campaigns and partnerships.
  • Economic Empowerment: Supporting microenterprise development, financial literacy programs, and skills training for local entrepreneurs.

Community Engagement Initiatives

  • Social Science in Action: Community-based research projects that address real-world problems, involving students in solving local issues.
  • Volunteer Programs: Opportunities for students and faculty to engage with local schools, NGOs, and community organizations.
